it just amazes how people treat you when you're dressed up. even the police leave me alone sometimes
oh yeah, if anybody wants to learn how to tie a tie(?) stein mart has an excellent brochure--in the men's suit section. it taught me (my father taught me also, but that's one of the lessons that never took) successfully
edit: i really don't like to shop while dressed up tho. people always mistake me for the store manager UGH
shinerburke: You'd be surprised. One of the reasons I ask is because in one of my university classes, we were doing a project on how to enable people to tie neckties more easily. In my group (and in many other groups) people did not know how to tie neckties (yes, they were men). And I was surprised. Very surprised. It all depends though on what experiences you've had. If you go to a lot of fancy dinners and give a lot of speeches or if you're an athlete then of course you'll know. If not, you might not have ever had to tie a necktie that your mom didn't tie for you.
ArkAoss- I can indeed do stuff around the house. Like that pesky absence of a coffe table in the middle of our family room. That's fixed now, although we still need to grout the mosaic tile top. Looks pretty cool. The nice thing about building your own furniture is that you know it'll match the rest
I always use the four-in-hand knot myself. The Half-Windsor looks lop-sided and the Double-Windsor eats up way too much of the tie. And, as it is, I have to wear extra-long ties.
