I really hope most of you are joking. Are you all Philosophy majors? Community college? Terrible GPA?

6-12, if not more. Of course some of us are in college and getting a real degree, so there is some studying involved ;)

If I do study it's about an 1 hour to 2 hours! :)

I spend about 6 to 7 hours doing assignments for my classes though.

I'm an Elem. Ed major (not a lot of studying to do till time for the midterm and final). I got to a University and I have a high GPA.

Some people are in fields where it's not necessary to study a lot.

well I think that depends on IQ and I am sure AT's members border on the higher than lower mark.

I was gifted (140IQ or so)...it's cool and all but find me a job and we'll talk :)

Not counting projects which equal the time you have to spend knocking them out....(to me this is not studying, but in previous debates ppl think it is).

I studied only during mid's and finals usually....maybe 1 hour max for the occassionally hard weekly test.

During mid or finals I would spend one night for each....maybe up to 6 hours if the test could make or break me.

Dont get me wrong though, this is no way to become Valdictorian, etc....my GPA was right around B (3.0) level....sometimes 3.3 sometimes 2.7....

I will say this, for me it would not have been hard to get to 4.0+ and that may have been a very big help in job placement considering *everyone* has a list of certifications after their names even if they don't have a degree.

EDIT: My majors were Zoology/Biology (no degree, 3 classes short but over 160 hours of core study) and Comp Sci (Bachelors).

I have 12 credits:

9 in Regular Classes: Thermodynamics, Dynamic Systems, and Manufacuring Processes
3 in Independent Study: Formula SAE Project

Typical Week for me:

Monday: Mostly consumed by meetings for Formula SAE and shop sessions
Tuesday: 1-1.5 hours of Thermo HW, 30min-1 of thermo reading, Group meeting for Formula
Wednesday: Catch up on Manufacturing reading 1-2hours
Thursday: Thermo HW 1-1.5hrs, Reading 30-1hr, Dynamic Systems HW 1-2hrs, solid model for 3-4 hrs
Friday: Might Catch up on any reading I missed
Saturday: Usually no home work, take formula car out and test at track
Sunday: Meet with Manufacturing lab partners to do report 3hrs, ThermoHW 1.5 hours, reading 30-1hr, Dynamic Systems Reading 1hr, Modeling 2 hrs

If there is a test or Quiz, add in 3 or 4 hours of studying per test or quiz (Average one a week or so)

This is actually a pretty light semester for me. I have had 15 or 16 credits before and wanted to die. The independent study is what ends up taking all of your time but it is worth it because it is the best experience you will ever get in college. I am a Mechanical Engineering major by the way.

The more proper question is how much time do you spend doing homework...

I think I averaged about 3 hours a week when I was in school...with a degree in ECE...I copied a lot though and the 3 hours is a lot of programming assignments..

I'd say between 3-4 hours per day is spent on homework, studying, etc.. 5 days a week...of course when tests roll around that number can jump up quickly. CompE major, 3.87 GPA...

Why? Graduate school?

Anyway, how do you people only study for 30 minutes?? This place is full of geniuses.

Um, I think that you need to have a bigger breakdown in the 12+ category for some of us college/grad school types. I probably dedicate about 3 hours a day to coursework and I actually have a very active and happy life.

About 2 hours a week. History major, and I consider most of my "studying" to be leisure reading. If you consider my leisure reading to be studying then about 12+ hours a week.
