Ok, I'm just taking a straw poll to find out if anyone has changed their opinion of Gore as a result of this whole mess in Florida. Don't start a flame war about the election itself -- I'm just very interested to find out if there is a large number of Dems who have changed their mind about good ol' Al.

Also answer if you haven't changed to get an idea of the comparison. Thanks! If someone wants to start a Bush one, go ahead. :)

I never particularly liked him in the first place, but the goings-on in Florida have not changed my mind. I can't see why people find it so shocking that he would take measures to ensure a thorough tally in what is likely the closest Presidential election in history. If anything I have consistently found that pompous old creep James Baker the most aggravating part of this whole mess. I was not a Gore fan going in and I am not one now. I still feel he is better qualified that GW "Quayle Jr." Bush, though.

Andrew,

I haven't changed....this election is SOOOO close in Florida. Gore wants to win, Bush wants to win.

I would expect similar postions from the Republicans if the roles were reversed. If the Republicans were behind by a small margin, I'd expect they do would be raising issues.

True, it doesn't mean a thing, so shut up, Red. ;)

I've read a couple people on hear who have said they've changed their opinions, and I wanted to see how many that might be.

People who say that all the Democrats want is a complete count are falling for the propaganda the the Goreistas have been throwing up since Election Day.

They lost a close race and have been on a vote fraud campaign since then with their demands for selective counts and subjective interpretations of voter intent. They are only looking for Gore votes, they aren't counting ALL votes.

I heard a report on one of the cable news channels last night that sources in the Gore camp are planning on going on a Whitewater-style investigation against the Secretary of State if she upholds the law and doesn't let Gore steal the election.

Bush may be as dumb as a sack-of-hammers, but he appears to be willing to let it go tomorrow, win or lose. It looks like Gore will keep crying and try to destroy the Presidency's legitimacy if he can't thwart the actual vote of the people. Hard to be proud of that.

Overall I find Republicans really, really creepy and Democrats just plain looney most of the time, so for lack of more choices I'm a Democrat..and for the most part agree word for word with the Tee_Edwards post above.

Whenever I heare Gore start to talk I am immediately compelled to switch the station..it's just too much to take in large doses. Every word out of his mouth is a calculated sound-byte (even worse than Clinton, and I didn't think that was possible)and 4 years of that does not sound appealing. And everytime I see Bush I'm dumbfounded that he was even running for president...how did this happen? It's not that I think he is the Village Idiot everyone characterizes him to be---he just seems to bring nothing with him to the position (ideas, vision, purpose, experience, accomplishments...for god's sake something).

Anyhow, Bush will win in the end, which is fine, and Gore has successfully cut his own throat politically.
But..I could be wrong...

The overseas ballots are coming in, George is Bushwhacking Gore. I bet Gore is going to want a manual recount from each country that the ballots came from.

Perhaps he will invent another new technology, like when he invented the Internet, that will do fuzzy AI to determine what the people were really thinking when their vote was cast so he can get more votes.

It don't matter anyway. Chances are whoever gets elected is going to die in office.
