I'm just curious about how long you think it will last. I don't care how passionately you feel about the benefits or dangers of the diet, don't turn this into a flame fest.

Also, no commenting on the diet unless you've studied it! ;)

It will end as soon as people start getting sick and suing everyone.

Considering that the low-carb "fad" diet has been around since the 70's, I'm sure it will be around for many years to come.

and the people that get sick and sue are going to be the ones that do not correctly follow the diet...

I voted for "It will be over by year end" hoping it would really perish sometime real soon...

Low-carb and 'chemical-shock' are different diets.

One of these will only make you sick if you turn it into the other. (Guess which one is bad! It's the one that allows massive rapid weight-loss...)

The diets have existed since the 70s, but have become perhaps 100 times as popular in the last 18 months; this certainly suggests "fad".

It will never fully go away, as bodybuilders and contest dieters will stay high-protein, low-carb. Until something that works better comes around, it will never fully diminish.

Did the Atkins about 5 years ago. Worked OK, but was too hard with the limited amount of options for lunch and such.
Doing it again for a little over 3 weeks now. Much easier. I have options for lunch, even dinner is a whole lot better now. Low Carb Spices, Ketchup and condiments make it soooo much easier. Lost nearly 20 pounds without going hungry and feeling acctually pretty good! I think it won't go away!

Until everyone looks in the mirror sees that they're still a fatass, not realizing that sitting on the computer or in front of the TV all day long is the problem.

They'll look for a new solution in the food they eat.
