Takes less than 1 second. Netscape takes much longer, probably around 7-10 seconds.

The browser opens in about 2 seconds (+ homepage download time) if I'm connected, otherwise a couple more seconds for the DUN dialer to pop up. I usually set my homepage to blank since I haven't found a page I like and I'm to lazy to write my own.

less than 1 sec to load ie, and of course the time it takes to fully load your homepage, depends on the site and your connection.

This is embarrassing, I'm on cable too :( I noticed this lag when I had my old 9gb "jacked up" HD, but just recently, I imported all files from there onto my new Maxtor DiamondMax and still noticed this lag.

Will defragging reduce it down to 1-2 seconds maybe? Or a fresh install of IE? ACtually, IE can't be uninstalled, only repaired, but I've gone through that option already

Your connection speed will have no effect on the load time of IE. It will have an effect on the load time of a web page.

Seems most people are saying how long it takes for the IE window to pop-up. If it's taking less then one second to load IE, and a web page, then that web page must be stored on your hard drive somewhere... Maybe on a lan..
