I don't mean how good the company is, or how much you like your field, I'm talking about how you feel when you roll out of bed, get ready, and hit the car (or whatever method you use to get to work).

Post what you do too, will you?

Edit: I'm the News Director-Anchor/Network Admin/Asst Engineer here

I give those a 2/4/3, which averages out to 3.

I dread going in to work. That's not b/c I don't like my job, I enjoy it, but b/c I'm afraid I will be fired. My boss always demands some reports to be done and faxed to him. Of course, I write all those reports, but I'm not sure that I do it the right way. Plus I got a ton of other work-related problems that don't let me sleep.

Wow, that sucks. What do you do?

My biggest concern is that job turn over is huge in radio. Our owner is getting old and could very well sell the station soon. Some huge company like Clearchannel (*spits*) could come in, buy the 3 stations, fire everyone, and put us on that damned satellite radio 24/7.

Our country station is already like that, and our Oldies station is for about half the day. We can't afford to bring in more jocks, because our sales people can't sell advertising.

I'm an accountant and the job is getting increasingly difficult. But I'm still holding on, he-he. Don't know for how long though.

I'd view my job in a better light if they'd give me some half-way normal hours.

I'm scheduled 12-12 Sunday-Friday and 12-6am on Saturday.

Then they ask me to run remotes at 1pm. I also have to attend local government meetings which are conviently at 6pm, right in the middle of my sleep cycle.

I'd like to have some time to myself, so I don't get burned out (which is happening). I'd also like to have a girl friend and some manner of a social life.

Oh well, enough complaining. Have you looked for other jobs?

Well, I don't want to look for other jobs b/c I can't do anything else, really. I'm just not experienced enough for my present job. But I hope I'll be able to overcome the difficulties. The working hours are quite normal, from 9 to 5PM 5 days a week, but the pressure is great.
I also would like to have a GF and social life but... well, I could never find either.

Bah, everyone says they can't get a girlfriend. If that's true, humanity is in trouble.

Just stick it out. Maybe a few years down the road you'll be more secure in your job. Who knows, you might be safer than you think. Training new employees is a drain on company resources. It would have to be worth it for them to cut you.

That said, make sure you have 6 months income in the bank, *just in case* it happens.

Not everyone. Only guys like me :(. Normal guys all could find a GF or two or even more. Humanity isn't in a trouble, the world population is constantly increasing. But me, of course, is in a trouble.

My last position in my career of 16 years with one company blew chunks. Actually, that's a little dramatic. The position was good - there were great days and some not-so-great days. The person that I reported to was a complete @sshat - no mentoring for me, no career feedback, showed preference to other consultants, ignored my requests for additional challenging work and was a back-stabber.

What happened? About 3 weeks ago, I was informed that my position was terminated. I almost cracked up laughing - "What? You're telling me that I no longer have to show up for work in a position that stinks and you're going to pay me how much to leave? Also, I see here that I can collect unemployment for up to 6 months and you won't contest the claim? Additionally, I can transfer the money out of my 401K accounts to some investment funds that I'd prefer more control over?" I'm very, very happy for what had happened. Now, I have the opportunity to professionally search for a position that will be a better match for me. I'm still on 38 years old, have a 4-year CIS degree (that the company paid for) and I have skills that are very much in demand. Yes, I'm happy - now!

I worked for 12 years at a job I hated with a passion uncontested. I quit (much to the delight of myself, bosses and co-workers) to take a position in IT which paid half as much as I was making. My first "IT" job was a joke, phone support at a wanna be ISP/T1 reseller, but I took the position based on lies about what it was going to be, not on what it actually was. My dumb mistake. I quit that one too with nothing to fall back on and was out of work for 5 months. I now have a job that I really like, (desktop support at a huge mortgage company). The money is back to where it was at my first job and I absolutely love what I do. I have actually caught myself smiling as I walked to my car in the morning looking foward to the day at work. I am still amazed at how I'm getting paid (pretty well) to play around with PC's all day....Still I am not completely satisfied.

The worst thing a person can do to themselves is do something they hate for a living. Going to work everyday is one of the most important things we do and to spend a third of your life doing something you despise can have a serious effect on ones overall quality of life. I used to dread going to sleep at night knowing I was going back to that hellhole the next morning, my work record stunk, I was chronically absent, late and extremely nasty. I had a serious anger/attitude problem which I had to seek therapy to deal with as I was losing my mind after a while. My home life suffered (badly) and the damage has yet to be undone (it probably never will be).

Although I like my job and love what I do, I feel it's time to take the next step and start my own business. whether I succeed or fail, time will tell, but I have to try..Life is too short to waste a third of it at a job you hate.

I work as a supervisor at a grocery store and I voted a 3. I really like the people I work with, but all the politics and lousy pay I don't feel is worth it. Do you think I'm being underpaid?

Responsibilites: Supervising cashiers and baggers, handling customer discrepancies and resolving them, adjusting and writing in workers from a computer written schedule, monetary pickups and loans for cashiers, accounting bookwork and bank deposits

What I make... $8.40

I like my job and the money is decent.

Thing is I'm a consultant and when I'm not on a project that sucks. Not only do I get bored but potentially the income diminishes and job security at my company is not good; I never know one quarter to the next if I'll still be employed and that's not very cool. Those of you in government or in some ridiculously secure profession don't take it for granted.

i'm only young  so i only really work part time. though during the summer, i took pretty much full time hours workin at a kitchen as a prep worker/dish bitch . i actually found it quite fun, because the money was GREAT compared to what i make in england ( i was out seein family in the summer)
the people were great, the chef was cool, though one was abit of an ass, but he still let me make myself anthing whenever i wanted, and when they did big like dinners and stuff and there were left over steakes, who got to take loads home :)
i made $8 an hour, so i think amdstunna, u are underpayed, considering u had way ,more responsibiity then i did at mine
i'd give it a 4, as it's still work

now my job jack home in england sucks. i only been goin a few weeks, but i already dread going. i have to be in at 9 on a saturday :(, it's really busy, don't really get breaks (other job got a 45min sit down lunch break, of anything off the menu) the chefs are pretty much arseholes, and the dishwashing machine sucks, and that's all i'm doing, scrubbing pans. it also felt like at trhe other job the chefs tried to teach a thing or 2, at this one they don't give a f@#k, worse of all i get payed 3.25 pounds an hour, which is like $5, as in england it seems there are no labour laws for under 18s. i'd give that job a 2
