POLL: How good are you at identifying car makes/models/years on the road?

How many percent of cars on the road do you think you can properly identify?

I can probably name the make/model/trim/year of 98% of the cars on the road today... anything '80s onward.

The only ones that give me trouble are the rare exotics, the 'ole land yachts of the 50's-70's, and MB CLK/CL/SLK/SL's <-- always confused those 4. But I have no problems with the C, E and S classes.

I am ok >75% anything post 1969, the only cars that mess me up are the benz's, just like you 😉

I'd say 75%, just because so many of the newer cars are all the same and boring and it's useless keeping track of them. I'm a God at performance cars though. 😀

hehe, it'd be interesting to test this theory. Lucky for me, around where I live, all cars are practically 95+, unless you're a student. 🙂

Its a useful skill to help keep you safe if you're prone to speeding. Can you all identify the cars by headlight or taillights at night too?

I know most of the cars that are on the road today. But I put myself as "75%" because that doesn't come close to 90+% of "ALL" cars.

I'm getting into muscle cars now, but a lot of them would just be "a muscle car" or "a classic" to me... I confuse a lot of the old 60-70s classics, although I'm pretty good with Camaros/Firebirds/Monte Carlos/Chargers/Challengers.. guess I'm improving. All the Nissans, Mazdas, Hondas, Fords, Chevys, GMs, BMWs, etc etc you see on the road commonly these days, I can usually identify accurately without hesitation.

I'm probably 50% +/- 5% or so at that. Speeding whenever you're driving and watching your mirror constantly really helps you learn them. Thank God I don't do that anymore.

Anyway, as to the poll I'm a "car god". I am another one who's confused sometimes by the benz's though.

How would you be able to tell the trim level without seeing the little "LE" or"LX" on the back?

I can't tell the Benzes apart either. I don't even care to remember the letters any more than I care to remember what an Acura RL is.

I get some of the new Kia/Hyundais mixed up but I rarely miss one...heck...I can tell at least half by the looks of the headlights/taillights at night!

last option

not so interested in cars like most ppl my age. heck i didn't even try to get a license until 2 years after the age at which i can get it

I can nail pretty much any car on the road from the 80s on up (even from head/taillights), but very few from the 70s and prior.
