$7500 + tax + about $400 in repairs for a catback and a new muffler. so about $8600

Its a 2001 nissan altima gxe limited. Except that it has a salvaged title since it was rear ended in a wannabe insurance scam. Other than the busted muffler and catback its a great car.

$115 for a 1953 Studebaker in 1961.

You're making me feel like a teenybopper.

Guess Mr. Kaiser had a bunch of steel left over after the war.
You remember the Kaised-Frazier and the Henry J? Not a lot of them left!

My first car was a '78 Chevy Caprice Classic given to me by my mother. I just had to pay to have it registered in my name.

$0.00 for my first car which was given to me by my parents. I later got $200.00 trade for it 3 years later.

It was a 1989 Hyundai Excel 5-spd... the car was one of the most solid cars i've owned mechanically, but the body rusted to crap. My second car was a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 which was a complete POS, I traded it in last month for a shiny new 2002 VW Golf GLS TDI. It was $26900.50 after trade and tax.

The VW is the best car i've owned.

$0.00 my dad gave me his '93 Dodge Intrepid in Dec. 1999. It only had like 55000 miles on it, even though it was 7 years old. It was rear-ended by a guy in Oct 2000, and my mom weasled $8500 out of the insurance company, who totaled it. There was no way in hell it was worth that much, but she was able to get it from them b/c she gave up our right to sue for injury. To this day I dont know why they didn't fix it, it would have cost them a lot less than $8500 to get it fixed. I miss that car :(

$0.00 for a '95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL coupe, a hand me down from my sister (not fair!, but you know how it is) ;). Driving that today.

$2500. I was a customized 69 VW Beetle (when those were cool). I bought it with money from an insurance settlement from some dude that hit me with a truck while riding my bicycle.

Considering the other two cars you had, it's not too surprising that the brand new VW would be your favorite! :)

My first car was an '84 Colt that I inherited from my sister which was purchased used for her. Probably couldn't have cost more than $800.

My first car was a '94 Nissan Silvia that I got when i turned 16 in '98. I dont know how much it cost, but used cars in Japan were pretty cheap, so it was probably under 2K if not under 1K. Mileage was somewhere in the 50k's kilometers.. so very low still.... man i miss that car.. had the K's engine (thats the turbo model) .... that car was faaaaastttt.....
