I always thought that it was "line ux", but a lot of people pronounce it "linix". What is the right way to say it?

If there are any other pronunciations that I forgot, please tell me so I can add it to the poll. Also, if you can make sound clips of the different pronunciations so people know what each one sounds like, that would be good.

I believe it's like "linn-ucks"

<edit> then again, who can argue with Torvalds? </edit>

I've always said line-ux and I refuse to change. The OS is named after its creator so it should sound similar to his name. Being an american we pronounce names the way we deem fit, therefor while in his homeland his name might be lee-noos we say line-us here. Therefor if I'm going to pronounce the OS similar to his name, its line-ux. If you live in a country where his name is pronounced lee-noos feel free to use whatever you like.

My two cents ;)

It's REAL pronunciation is like "lee-nooks" but most people I know say linnux. I used to say line-ux b/c I think that sounds cool, but I was in the vast minority on that so now I say linnux like every other s'kiddie :)

The original finnish pronounciation of "Linux" is like "Li-Nuks". That's what the "official" Torvalds-pronounciation in Kernel-org sounds like.
