... and what is the way they prounce it over there, or, in other words, the CORRECT way to prounce it? So many different news reports have so many different prounounciations.
 
Short I, short A (as in arm). The Q is supposed to be guttural, don't even try to pronounce it if you're not Middle-Eastern.

In Arabic, the first letter in Iraq is 'Ayin. Also guttural, and just as hard to pronounce for foreigners.

eye-rack for me

i have a friend who is middle eastern, and he says it differently. i cant even begin to describe it
 
If the correct pronunciation is "ear-rack", then was "eye-rack" originally a derogatory Western bastardization similar to "ay-rab" or "eye-talian"?
 
The "correct" way to pronounce it is with the "a" sounding like the "a" in car, the "I" is like the "i" in sin.
