how you pronounce them?

1) A-V-I
2) AVI like apple, equal stress on all letters
3) Avi like the letter A, and less stress on the "VI
 
I don't think I've ever heard someone refer to them in a word form..."avee"? I think I'd be confused at first, then laugh. 🙂
 
You didn't have a better question that you could ask? Was there nothing more important going in your mind than the pronunciation of .AVI?

Wierd, but I've always pronounced . . . . .

com - as com
sys - as sys
exe - as E-X-E

AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave. It is a special case of the RIFF (Resource Interchange File Format). AVI is defined by Microsoft. AVI is the most common format for audio/video data on the PC.


Pronouncing it ahh-vee is wrong.


"A-V-I" is correct as it is an accronym...
