Wow, talk about your loaded polls.
I don't think there's a person in the world, aside from the people that actually work for them, that like them.

I'm sure that poll will show that most people dislike riaa.. probably because they are trying to take away their free music. Personally I feel that RIAA is using cheap shots and sinking pretty low.. but on the other hand I often wonder what I would do in the same situation. You have miliions of people who can easily steal music and the numbers just keep growing higher.. how would I prevent this from happening. It hardly sounds like there would be any easy solution. What they are doing is at least getting their name heard out there, that if you steal music you can get in trouble.

Well....I'm going to give my view that not everyone will agree with. The RIAA is basically a union. It's not their job to police the world, but 30-40% of the piracy that makes them lose money is NOT over the internet....it's the Chinese making illegal copies and more recently, it's people burning illegal copies. I believe that it's good to download new music to get a better idea of what's out there. My cd players are cheap and can't play burned copies. (one or two can't) So I go out and actually buy music I want to listen to, but I have to sample it by downloading it to see if I really want it. It makes me sick to know that the RIAA wants to disrupt that. If the music sucks, I obviously stop listening and if it's good, I'll buy the cd...

I think that the RIAA is going about the whole mess of illegal trading the wrong way, but I can sort of understand it.

HA! I don't even think the people who work for them like the RIAA. I just think that the reason they stay is because it's a job and it pays well.

How about the "I don't pirate but hold the RIAA resposible for all of the sh!t music released, stagnating the industry, and refusing to listen to consumers due to their short-sighted greed and near monopoly" crowd.

Nobody likes them. And i still don't understand that analogy of how downloading music is like walking into a store and stealing a cd. It's not the same. When you steal a physical item from a store, the store owner loses money because he paid for it. When you download, nobody loses money. They might think they lost money, but there's no way of knowing if they would have bought the song if it wasn't available online. :disgust:

I don't download/pirate music. I still hate the RIAA. The organization contains all the major record labels which do nothing but screw the artist and encourage crappy cookie cutter music.

Idiot. :disgust: Having that position is no different than believing that only potheads want to see marijuana legalized. If you're not smart enough to know what the real debate is about, then kindly STFU.

I buy all of my CDs, but I'd still vote for "burn them to the ground and sow the ashes with salt"

Yeah, it's kind of a biased poll, though. I doubt that any sane person could like an organization who is partly responsible for the outragous profit margins on cassettes and CD's.

A better question might be "Do you think that the RIAA has the right to police music downloads for piracy?" Although the results will probably still be more than 70% no, at least you'll get some interesting debate on the issue.
