I'm just curious. My first experience with purchasing an item was rocky, but it wasn't really anyone's fault.

I don't have a problem with it if they are established. You have to get a feel for the person through communication first, and avoid people who sound rushed and are too lazy to spell things correctly and make a nice looking post with the pertinent information. Talking on the phone is a bonus for higher priced items, and local pickup is always a great way to go if it's an option. I used to do a ton of trading on this board and have yet to be trolled; a little common sense goes a long way. :)

I've done dozens of transactions (probably close to 100, have heatware for 65 or so), never had any trouble.

Be careful, know the person you're dealing with.

I don't know if I can say I could know anybody on the internet. The problem with the internet is you don't really get to see the other person. So if Viper GTS' account got hacked and someone was posing as him I would have no idea it wasn't him. In real life you can still be screwed but at least you know who it is.

I usually buy off ebay cuz it has been so streamlined it easiest to browse everything you want and its easier to find something you want. Although you can probably get better deals in FS/FT.

Usually try to be as careful as possible... I actually don't deal on the net too much.

Be careful, get a feel for the person like stated earlier and just keep your wits about you and I don't think anyone should have problems

I'm fine with it. If people would just use common sense, and Anandtechs system, you'd have almost nothing to worry about. :D

It's a bit risky every transaction. Individuals usually sell their goods because it's either broken, not stable, they bought something better, or they're selling it for a profit. Just hope they're not selling it for the latter part.

I have had all good experiences so far buying mostly from E*ay. I don't usually purchase big items, all under $100.
