i'm just curious how many people own fast/modded cars or stock cars and drive them like they are a ford escort, or like a ferrari

i drive the jeep and the neon like they were both neons. Unless i'm offroad, then the jeep gets treated like a jeep. :)

I'm a smooth speeder. I almost never mash the pedal and I hardly use my brakes. I constantly look several cars ahead for openings. If I see one, I'll zip in and travel slightly faster than the traffic and plan my next move. If there are no openings, I patiently wait. You'll never see me jerking left or right in traffic. All my moves are Steven Segal smooth. Freeways are my friends.

I never speed in residential areas, or near or around malls, etc.

um, no

Same here. Maybe a few times a month I'll let the clutch rip if there's nobody else at the light (otherwise if there are, and you're not racing them, it looks gay). I'm a big fan of squeeling around corners though, but not all the time. I drive about 10 over the limit on a regular basis when conditions allow.

Sounds like me- I'm one of those guys that makes an honest effort to make a perfectly balanced lane change without hitting the reflector lane markers. And the turn signal has to make a clean, full 3 (high speed freeway, interstate) or 5 (residential, commercial) flashes- no half flashes! It looks bad! :D

I too never speed in residential areas, around malls, or anywhere there might be people wandering about.

Not much squeaking here, I got new back tires. Now I just need some new front ones, and I'll be set...

I rarely go over 2500 RPM in my dad's truck, but that's because it's a turbo diesel :D

My Dakota has 295 friends under the hood. They're known as Lb/Ft. They're good friends. They rarely let me down. Sure, a few get lost on the way to the back but most usually make thier destination. On ramps are like mini drag strips because the point of them is to get upto the required 65/75 by the end of them and keep pace with the cars on the road. Corners can be taken quickly, just not the first dozen times or so. Find out what's likely to be around them first and find out what mashing on the brake pedal is likely to do if you need to (a falling off camber turn can get you in trouble REAL quick).

Driving fast, driving reckless, and driving aggressive are all independant phenomena. I often drive fast, and take roads aggressive, but I rarely if ever drive reckless and I always take traffic very passively.

If there were no speed limits I'd do 100 on certain stretches of the freeway but would still hold it below 20 when kids are around in a neighborhood or school area.

I speed at about 10-15 over the limit. I'm also quick off the line as I like to get up to speed fairly quickly. Very very rarely do the tires squeek or anything like that. I also like to take turns a bit fast. I guess I just like the feeling of being pressed into the seat a bit, which you get from those two actions. I can do it pretty good in my car, a 97 Acura CL 3.0.

I don't try to race, always make sure I have more than enough space when changing lanes (hate cutting off people and I hate being cut off), I try to coast to slow down rather than use breaks (which means looking far ahead). All in all, I try to be smooth and predictable about my actions.

I've got a 93 Subaru Impreza, and it's a great car. 23 MPG city, 31 MGP highway, automatic transmission, will do 85 MPH at 2750 RPMs. It performs very well with a V-4 overhead cam setup. It's about time I change the air filter and oil though. I don't speed, but I do keep up with the flow of traffic.
