I rarely go over 2500 RPM in my dad's truck, but that's because it's a turbo diesel
My Dakota has 295 friends under the hood. They're known as Lb/Ft. They're good friends. They rarely let me down. Sure, a few get lost on the way to the back but most usually make thier destination. On ramps are like mini drag strips because the point of them is to get upto the required 65/75 by the end of them and keep pace with the cars on the road. Corners can be taken quickly, just not the first dozen times or so. Find out what's likely to be around them first and find out what mashing on the brake pedal is likely to do if you need to (a falling off camber turn can get you in trouble REAL quick).
Driving fast, driving reckless, and driving aggressive are all independant phenomena. I often drive fast, and take roads aggressive, but I rarely if ever drive reckless and I always take traffic very passively.
If there were no speed limits I'd do 100 on certain stretches of the freeway but would still hold it below 20 when kids are around in a neighborhood or school area.
