Hello Everybody,
I am doing a management paper on a service company. I chose Telocity necause I did not have a pleasent experience. I would greatly appreciate any stories about the service of Telocity good or bad. As much detail as you care to provide would help me out greatly. I hope this is the right forum for this. Please vote on the poll. Thanks, Q

It took them about a month and a half from my initial call to actually having working DSL. And then it was only half the speed they promised me. I had it for exactly 1 month and of that month the service was out for about a week. I finally cancelled it and switched over to cable.

It's more than 3 months that I'm running telocity, and sometimes I've had small problems, but for not more than half a day.
I've never had any problem with their customer service.

Ive got a good one.

This was a few months ago.

Since we live in a suburb of 130,000+ you would think there would be plenty of DSL, Cable , etc. options. But there arent, Other people who had gotten telocity said it was good with minimal problems. HA! So we ordered the service, the installer was pretty much there in a few days, the install went fine about, 800k down. Immedietely we noticed the connection dropping without warning, it might drop and come back immedeitly or be a few hours, and this would happen several times a day each day. There was the few days where it would be up the entire 24 hours but those were -rare-. This went on for about a month. You might ask why we stuck with it, the reason we did was because there really wernt any other options. Anyways after the first month, we call up tech and they suggested it might be the gateway. So we get that replaced but still the line is dropping, they then try lowering our speed to 450k, that doesnt work either, they lower it even further, (by this time they were just guessing). Still having the same probs. Even if it did work below 400k we wouldnt have stayed with the service anyways. So finally we got rid of it, and we're back on the sh|t modem.

bottom line:

-good install
-decent speeds when it was working
-crap connection consitency
-sh|t tech support
-crap value
-crap service overall

i had so-so service.. speeds were nice for downstream..i got my 1.5mbps.. took about a month and a half which is an eternity.. went down often first couple of months.. customer service got worse towards the end.. esp after directv took over. i've cancelled for a month now due to moving but they just charged me 40 again last week and i waited almost an hr for someone to reverse the charge and they said they did it but it still hasn't showed up yet. so we'll see. only reason i went with them was for the static ip.
