I posted this some time back for my transfer. Have to decide soon. Just wanted to see what the masses have to say. I'm pursing double majors in Physic and International Affairs.
The meat:
Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey:
Public, New Brunswick, New Jersey
Cost(in state): 17,000 (with room and board)
Enrollment: 28,000
Pros: History, Quees College (Rutgers College) established in 1766 by Benjamin Franklyn's illagitament son
Large state school, lots of resources. Mixed old and new facilities
Research University
Pretty well known.
Cons: Notorious for BAD administration and efficiency.
State School, little student-proffessor relationships
Some of the worst dorms in the country
American University
Private, Washington DC, Distric of Columbia
Cost: 34,000
Enrollment: 5,800
Pros: Located in Washington DC, great city resources, close to Georgetown and The George Washington University
Great politics and law programs. Good business program.
Small school, good student teacher relationships
Very good dorms along with well maintained and new facilities
Has great potential to be influential university
Cons: Not very well known.
Tends to be snobbish incorporating lots of rich kids with money to burn
Expensive
Not much of a research university
