I have to make a RAM decision by Monday morning and wonder if you'all could help?

Does anyone have any experience with Mushkin's new HP Rev 3 128 MB DIMMS?

I realize they use Siemens/Infineon chips (7.5 ns) versus the Rev 2's Mosel-Vitelic
(7 ns) chips.

The system processor is an Intel PIII 800 EB and the mobo an Asus CUSL2.

I havn't been able to find much comparison info on the new Rev 3 modules but of course
I know that the REV 2 Mosel Vitelic chips are well respected.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

PLEASE CLICK ON THE POLL BUTTON and VOTE.... THANK YOU

Personally, I would get the Kingmax PC150, its only $72 and it guarrantees 150MHz. But for those two, I'd probably choose Rev3.

The nice Infineon, the Mosel Vitelic, i've used both. Both are high-quality stuff. I'd agree with throwing the Kingmax stuff in too - i haven't used their pc-150 before, but their regular pc-133 worked well for me too. I'd say that none has enough of an advantage over any of the other to justify paying more for any of them.

After I saw your type of MB (CUSL2) and being known for being picky with memory... I would use the Mosel Rev.2 if you are going to use 128meg modules... But use Rev.3 for 256meg modules (read about this somewhere). I have had the KingMax also but it would not perform near as well as the Mosel that I have now (it made a beliver out of me...)

1 vote Mosel the sig says it all 2-2-2-5,7

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the advice!!!

And thanks peemo for the link to "Lost Circuits". I had noticed that the 256 MB rev 2 modules used the Siemens/Infineon chips and NOT the Mosel-Vitelic as do the 128 MB rev 2 and wondered why. It was an interesting article to read how the rev 3 modules were "born".

It's a tough call. I can get the 128MB rev 2 OR rev 3 for the SAME price but it has to be one or the other (I can see Kingmax in my future though for another system and WOW, what great prices for Kingmax and excellent reviews too).

So I guess it just boils down to "flipping a coin"; there are obviously a lot of Mosel-Vitelic fans who swear by those chips but the rev 3 look like "winners" as well.

Again, thanks for the input!

BTW, in case anyone wants to know, I had accidentally put in two votes for the rev 2 myself when creating and editing the poll (my first poll, lol) so the ACTUAL vote at the time of this posting is a perfect 50/50 split; 5 votes each for rev 2 and rev 3. :)

Why not pick up some Mosel Rev2 sticks from John or Skorp in Sale/Trade... they are respected and its like 75-80 and its the same stuff Mushkin sells.
