I do not think I would replace any of my DVDs with HD-DVD ......
Perhaps if they were 1080P or a higher non-interlaced resolution ... and the original is at least that resolution or better ... then I would consider it ....

I believe BR supports 1080p, but I'm betting some movies will be 720p to start with because they're still perfecting dual layer discs (50 GB). 25GB isn't a lot of space for 1080p.

So no, I won't buy any HD-DVDs, ever.
QFT!!!! Have you guys forgotten the PS3? Unless Toshiba & Mircosoft practically give the players alway, HDDVD is dead.

DVD was supposed to be OMGSOFREAKINAWESOME and now we're being told it sucks. Whaaaatever. No plans to get a "HD" DVD player any time soon (don't have an HDTV for one). Netflix FTW!

Yeah, if you don't have an HDTV, there's hardly a difference between the formats.

But don't downplay HD movies. 1080p completely slaughters 480i/p.

To give you an idea of the difference:

The white box is what DVDs play in. Blu Ray will play in the huge green box.
