Poll: Have you read Ayn Rand's Atlas shrugged?

MANY years ago I read it. Talk about a long read :Q

The Fountainhead is still my favorite of Ayn Rands'.
We The Living is the most depressing book I've read.
Anthem encapsulates her philosophy as good as any of her titles do.

Geez. Makes me want to read something other than the computer screen again 😉

I am close to finishing it. It is a really dull book. I recommend it for a doorstop or a booster seat but not much else.

Yeah, I've read Atlas Shrugged.

It's one of my favorite books. Better than the Fountainhead I thought...but only if you're into Rand's philosophy. Even if you aren't, though, you still have to appreciate the passion she brings to her writing and ideas.

I think politicians should be forced to read it (although, if they're already successful politicians, they probably wouldn't understand it).

it completes Rand's philosophy.

The fountainhead introduced the idea of uncompromising and Atlas Shrugged portrayed a world that is the result of a man unwilling to bend to the whims of others.

and you're right. A successful politician will just think it's stupid. I've met many people who just laugh at it. A few days ago, I heard some parent say this to their kid "it doesn't matter if what you're doing is wrong and goes against every rational, right idea that you have. Do it anyway and make your mom happy"

exact words...

I was astounded.

I think it's wonderful how the ideas are combined in a fictional story to create a spellbinding tale. That is the product of a true fecund mind.

I got it several months ago, been on page 123 and still there.. 🙂 It's not bad, I just haven't spent time reading it lately.
