POLL: Has this ever happened to you in CS:S?

I was searching around in google and it seems that a lot of people just suck. Although some admit that they were never any good at multiplayer FPS, but some are good at others, but just not CS:S. There was even this one dude that's been playing for 8 years and he still sucks. I can't believe he's still playing. Then I thought that maybe I'm not alone, just maybe there really is something wrong with CS:S. So I created this poll to see if that is true. I came up with these five questions that I think would define the problem. If anyone has any new and interesting questions to ask as well, post or PM me. I'll try to include them into the poll.

I'm not ashamed; I answered: YES, NO, NO, NO, YES, YES.

I was in the top 3 spots most of the time in the following games: COD, COD2, DOD, DOD:S, UT2004. At most, I was top 10 in Battlefield 2 (for those brief first months I owned it). And this happened because I couldn't get to the battle fast enough without a vehicle.

EDIT:
Just at my bro's computer and after getting used to his computer, I didn't have any problems hitting people. I actually felt like I was hitting. Hmmm.... Why? I still think that this goes back to Valve. Without another plausible theory, this sounds good.

Yes, I'm pretty good at Deus Ex and Day of Defeat. Not great, but still ok.
No, I suck at CS.
No, I usually die before I get a chance to shoot my gun at a wall, let alone another person.
No, I will always suck at CS.
No, the few times I do get a shot it's because I'm fighting a guy that sucks even worse than me.
No, usually I'm killed by a sniper in a window or on a building.

You'd think that if you were good in one FPS, you could expect to be at least okay in any other. But that's definitely not the case for me. For instance, as a number of the old-timers in the DC forum will tell you, I was pretty good at Unreal Tournament, but absolutely sucked when it came to any version of Quake, even though both games are really very similar.

Counterstrike is a game where my K : D ratio is never very good but it's because I'm more focused on the mission objectives, and so with fast-paced games I inevitably do badly, but when it comes to slower-paced games like SWAT4, Rainbow Six 3, and Ghost Recon, I do much much better because the focus is more on the mission and less on the sheer kill-kill-kill aspect. 🙂

Halo 1: Have potential to be best on server
Half life 2 deathmatch: Have potential to be best on server
Battlefield 2: Have potential to be best on server (gold medal)
C&C Renegade: Have potential to be best on server (MVP)
Counter Strike Source: Utter crap.... k/d ratio was like 8 to 32 last time i played

Why? I have no idea. Somthing to do with the lack of a healing ability and the strength of guns/lack of health. Its realistic if you get shot in the chest you probably die, but who plays games for realism? Fun > Realism anyday.

The reason i die when i poke my head around certain corners is due to snipers. I followed them, and what they do with the other player camera thing you get once you die. Its effective but dosent look much fun.

In source when you run around corners you see the enemy briefly before he sees you, were talking 50ms or less. Note this only happens while running.

To minimize the 'source netcode' effect for online play use the settings cl_interp 0.01 , cl_interpolate 1. Note setting the value cl_interpolate to 0 is an illegal value for some servers, and for online league play.

Your rates should be rate 25000 , cl_cmdrate 100 , and cl_updaterate 100 . Note you can only send as many updates as frames per second, so if your playing on a 100 tick (update per second) server, and you get 50 fps, you send 50 updates. The lower the update amount the more the server interpolates hitbox/model positions. In otherwords its a sprayfest/luckfest/your behind the wall after moving but you get shot and your body dragged back.

This is one game where your settings matter, sadly.

aim for the head. run around with a deagle and try this. then a usp. takes 2 hits with usp to kill, 1 with deagle. its not luck. depends on how willing u are to experiment to find out how the weaps work. cs s has dm servers now so its easy as pie. and well theres always framerate resolution/mouse quality/coordination issues. u can buy ur way into the first two, but coordination..well thats just genetic i guess.

It's easier to play normal CS:S once you've play some zombie mod.... And for the record No, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, No.
