Microsoft Cuts Xbox Price, Seen Boosting Sales

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Monday cut the price on its Xbox video game console, in a move seen as a boost to the game publishing industry ahead of its biggest gathering of the year in May.

So has anyone here been convinced to buy an Xbox now that it's cheaper?

Maybe. A guy I know modded his and turned it into an emulation machine. Name a game he's got it on his XBOX. I'm thinking about buying one to do this, it'd be cool to be able to play any Atari, NES, SNES or MAME game whenever I want

I have a PS2 already, but I am considering picking up an xbox, and run it as a linux box, the emulation idea sounds nice too.

I bought an XboX package from a fellow board member. Opened it, hooked it up, plugged it in, ran a game, felt like a boob and resold it!

I love the thing! PGR2 online is how racing SHOULD BE.

Though, the more I think about it, sometimes I want to consider a Gamecube for cheap. I was dreaming about playing old school zelda last night (don't ask), and I thought about WindWaker and such. Still not sure though, I love my Xbox as it is!

If you don't have one you should buy one. I just sold my xbox and traded in for a very cheap dvd player, but it's far and away the best console out there with this price drop. Pay $30 more for a ps2? HA. And even if the GC was $10 it wouldn't be a good buy for an adult.

not at all. after i buy extra controllers, dvd remote, and s-video cable, price still goes over $200. i'm waiting for the hardware change (like Playstation did to PSone) or the price drop to $100.

when i have a DC, PS2, and GC, getting an xbox doesnt factor much into exclusive games when i already have alot of games for my other consoles.
