POLL: Hardcover or Paperback?

paperback. easier to carry around, and doesn't give my arms a workout while I'm reading it in bed.

I frequently buy hardcover books, though, because I hate waiting around for 9-12 months for a book to be reprinted in paperback.

Paperback. Mainly because a lot of the books I read don't come in hardcover. So If I bought hardcover I'd have books of all different sizes...

I only get hardcover on books I want to read sooner than later - Feast of crows is the first hardcover ill buy in the last 16 months

Whoa, thanks for all the replies. I enjoy reading paperbacks more, but I think hardcovers look better on my bookshelf and they do not wear out as much.

I usually buy hardcover because I'm too lazy to wait for the paperback, which is usually published at a later date.
And hardcover looks better on the bookshelf.

Paperback. Easy to carry and much easier to read in bed at night. Hardcovers are too bulky and can only be read in certain positions, a paperback can be held with one hand leaving the other free for beverage or snack. I'll only buy hardcover for books that I must have quickly and don't want to wait for the paperback to be released.

Paperbacks because I can toss them when I am finished. I don't often reread a book so there is no reason to put on a bookshelf.

I hope by tossing them you mean you donate them to your local library, or pass it on to somebody else. 😉
