Which do you prefer and why? I prefer soft, so when i shower with hard water, it feels sticky sorta, but other people say they'll never shower using soft, since it's "slimey"....thoughts?

All the hot water in my house is softened, so I probably shower with softened water.

Soft water is so much better tasting to drink and it doesn't leave this nasty ass crusty residue on all of your dishes and silverware.

poke it really hard, if it hurts, it;s probably hard, if not and it feels like you're pushing a pillow in, you've got soft water!

um, not sure how to tell, i've always used soft at home, alot of places use hard though, and generally it's easiest to get a good sudsy lather with soap in soft water, if you feel like it dries up really fast, then it's hard

Q: Why does it take so long to rinse the soap off my hands?

A: The terms "soft water" and "hard water" are important here. Water is said to be soft if it has a low concentration of calcium and magnesium ions in it, and hard water has a high concentration of calcium and magnesium. If you use soft water, the ions react with the soap you use to produce a residue that feels like it is hard to wash off. If you use hard water, you also will have a harder time working the soap up into a lather. Hard water is prevalent in some parts of the country, and sometimes water-softening chemicals that reduce the amount of calcium and magnesium are added to the water.

Use the above as a test. :)

Hard, but not rock-hard....not hard enough that you can't lather, but not so soft that you can't ever get the damn soap off of you....hate the slimy feeling :|
