Doesn't seem like a good comparison. Roleplaying communities make up maybe 5% of the whole. PVP is just an aspect of the game.

Are you talking about during character creation? If you create a PvP character you won't have acess to all the skills. It is just to try out to give you a hint what end game characters are like, so you can go back and start the character you want.

There isn't anything even remotely close to roleplaying found in Guild Wars.

I believe he's talking about charater creation. When you make a character, it asks you if you want to create a "Roleplaying" or "PvP" character.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one but...

PvP in Guild Wars = Worst PvP I've seen.

I'm used to the Diablo 2 PvP in pre 1.10 and I can say that Guild Wars type of PvP is stupid. What's the point of making everyone the same level? That's like making everyone in D2 the same level (99) and letting them duel. Stupid. I can't stand the healing as well. There was no healing in Diablo 2 (unless you potted/rejuved but that was rare), making the duels even longer. You don't get to body guard, talk crap, it's just "righteous" duels. Lame. That takes the whole point of PvP away, IMO.

D2 PvP pre 1.10 >*

I'll be looking out for Diablo 3 in 2006.

D2 PvP pre 1.10 = whoever has the most hacked items wins, not who has the most skill. (and i'm not saying this cause i lost or anything. I had a hacked out sorc w/ soccy rings etc, and a hacked out amazon w/ 40 hexes and a quark bow [before i was banned... teehee] and I'm speaking from experience). i haven't played guild wars yet, but i sorta like the idea of making levels worth less, makes it more skill based (theoretically anways...). just my thoughts...

Sorry if I didn't specify this.. I was talking about Diablo II Classic, not Xpac. Even though most people used dupes like Soul Scratch, Rune Dart, Dread Harp, Bitter Turn, Shadow Coil, Soul Spurs, Viper Casque, (d2 east dupes) it was still fun and it was more based on skill than X-Pac. I view X-Pac as a bunch of level 99's with hacked/matrixed out items.

D2 in Classic is different. There isn't "thousands" of poison damage. There isn't "damage reduce." There isn't any charms and Javazon's aren't as powerful as Barbarians. There is no 1-hit KO as well.

Barbarian duels were fun (BvB). Barbs aren't mad fast like in Xpac, they don't have mass damage like in X-pac. It's more "legit."

There isn't any charms with resistance so Sorceresses didn't have "maxed out" resistance in SvS duels. Nor did they have a very high level orb.

Amazons can't switch to Javelin/Shield to block shots or have THOUSANDS of poison damage. It was just Bow and Arrow and accuracy (unless you autoaimed/scrolled).

The same with Paladins and Necros. The BvS/Z class was the funnest IMO. You made a speed lancer/sword+shield barb that was fast as hell and could kill Sorcs/Amas and sometimes Necs/Pallys. Rarely barbs, though.

So what I'm saying in general is that I wasn't referring to LoD but to Classic D2 duels. Maybe I shouldn't even say pre 1.10 because second half of .09 xpac-items were duped in classic. How about pre HALF-WAY of .09 before all the xpac items came on Classic.

Those were the good times and sorry I didn't specify LoD or Classic.
