Gorillas can run 20-25 mph but grizzlys can run 30-35. Plus grizzlys weigh more. So I'll go with the gorilla on this one. Granted, this is like asking if I want to get run over by an Escalade or a school bus.

It's a toss up. Male gorillas can weigh up to 400kg while a grizzly can weigh in at up to 550kg. The bear can run faster and has razor sharp claws. But, the gorilla has a higher intelligence They also live in groups so chances are you'll have more than one gorilla to fight off.

I assume I'm fighting of them with my bare hands. I don't know.

what weapon would that be? Anything short of a bullet to the head/heart isn't going to slow them down fast enough to stop from ripping your head off and/or gutting you with claws.

My first reaction was I'd rather deal with the bear. It's hard to say really. Aren't gorillaz significantly more intelligent?

Grizzlies are the most powerful and vicious (at fighting) animal in the world. A grizzly can kill any other living creature (barring perhaps a massive whale? Drowning doesn't count...)

That said I don't think it matters as either a grizzly or gorilla would tear anyone apart.

The bullet wouldn't do it either - it would have to be to the spinal cord.

I'll go with the bear.

Either one is drastically overpowered compared to a human. However, the bear has a smaller brain, and a lot of the gorilla's physical abilities overlap with our own - in short, what you can do, the gorilla can do just as well, if not better. The bear is lacking in certain respects, and that might give some sort of advantage.

In any case, I'd likely just seize up and do nothing at all.

Generally, gorillas are very shy and reserved towards people. They will attack only if they are surprised or threatened or if a person behaves in the wrong way. If the human makes an unexpected movement, the silverback male can react with horrific roaring and bluff charges. This means that he runs straight to the victim with great speed and stops just in front of him, sometimes at a distance of only 1 m. If the person then behaves submissively by crouching down and looking at the ground, he has nothing to fear. However, if he runs away instead, the excited gorilla is provoked even further: He will follow the fugitive and bite him into the body part he can seize first, most frequently a leg or buttock. The result of such an attack usually is a deep wound.

That said, Grizzlies are more apt to kill if they are hungry as opposed to just pissed, which will might lead to a horrible injury, but not necessarily with the intent to finish you off. I'd guess taking the submissive position on the ground might help as well.

Check out this Kodiak bear getting shot. I read on another site the shooter was using a Marlin lever-gun in .444 which is no slouch.

Notice the first shot hits the bear in the side, probably ripping up vital organs like the lungs. Despite this, the bear immediately gets into the clear and onto the high ground, looking in the direction of the sound from the shot. Even with the injury it's ready to rock and roll. Mean sum'bitch.

The bear is taken down with a head shot but if for some reason the hunter was unable to get the last shot off you can bet that bear would have found him and been all over him in a matter of seconds.

I think hunting bears for any other reason than population control or self defense is lame as hell.

Yeah, I think in this context, "nothing to fear" is a displaced phrase. I'd just hope he likes the smell of my sh!t painted on my drawers.
