I prefer to get the easy thing out of the way. If the good news is short and sweet and the bad news will take some work to fix, gimme the good news first and get it out of the way. I don't like pissing around and prefer to get down to business.
No matter how good the "good news" is, the entire time I'm hearing it I'm wondering what the bad news is.
And there is nothing that pisses me off more than when people say "I have bad news" or "we need to talk" and then end the sentence with "not now, but later" or some crap like that!
