20lbs isn't a lot of weight, but 40 is. If the choice were between a smoker and someone 40lbs overweight, I'd cheerfully choose neither.

I agree with most of the others. 20 lbs is managable and can be lost if necessary. Smoking is an addiction, and I'm tired of watching my friends die from smoking related illnesses. I'd never date smokers until after she has quit.
