Am I going to be sorry? Well, even though it's only $7, I want to know I just didn't waste it on a game I'll never play . . ..

Well, it depends. Did you like HW1? If so, you will love this one (since its just HW1 except more polished and with better graphics).

Multiplayer is awesome, if you actually enjoy the game.

I'm saying this because I love HW, while some folks simply hate it.

Never played it. :(

However, for point of reference, I was a sucker for Silent Storm, Fallout, and Freespace 2.

jm0ris0n:

Glad you share my enthusiasm.

Jehovah:

Heh, none of those games are really all that similar. HW2 really is just an RTS game, but unlike other RTS games, nothing is 'anchored,' everthing can move on three axes, and there isn't really a base, per say, though there are stationary base defenses. Its hard to explain. Plus, there are some great mods for it, check them out here:

Really not relavent advice, but if you like HW2, you might also like Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.

Played all 3 (HW1, the expansion, and HW2). While HW2 has updated graphics, the story blows. And I mean absolutely blows, compared to part 1. If you haven't played part 1, you won't notice though. But with part 2, they went off on a completely different tangent with the storyline that had a lot of the die hard fans scratching their heads. Don't know if any of the old forums still have the archives of the complaints, but you can go read them if you want. All in all a pretty decent game.

Bump - got it today -

.....and? First impression?

Well, I got the demo, so I *kinda* knew what I getting into - then again, there's a lot more stuff to play around with - I've been playing around with the skirmish mode most of the time - it's pretty darn strategic - none of the "build as much as you can, and throw it at the enemy" - if you go by that . . . "strategy", then you'll surely die.

It's got a pretty solid AI, as far as I can see. Definitely worth my $7 (unfortunately, the price about doubled at gogamer when I last checked . . . :()
