I have some questions to make you about these graphics cards. Which of them only apply textures to the parts of objects you would see on the screen? KiroII sure, but Randeon and GeoForce3?

Now only for the GoForce3:

What is the function of the pixels shaders?
What is the purpouse of the Lighspeed memory?
The facial movements on render humans are made whith the vertex shaders, whith the chip geoforce3 or whith the morphing unit?

Ok thanks for answering me. I need to answer these questions to win a GeoForce3 in a computer store near my home (Spain).
Thanks a lot

English is not his native language, he indicated he is from Spain so try to cut him a break.

zipirri,

there is an excellent review of the Geforce3 here on anandtech.com, it will answer all of your questions, I suggest you read it.

The Kyro2 is the only Tile Based Renderer that does full Hidden Surface removal prior to Rendering. The Radeon has some Z-buffer tricks that help speed it up a bit, but it's not true hidden surface removal. I think one of the Beta driver sets for the GF3 does some HSR as well...but it's not fully implemented yet I don't think.

There are ups and downs to this. It greatly speeds up rendering...but the Kyro2 has to sort polygons prior to the rendering step. In high polygon count scenes this sorting penalty can hurt the Kyro quite a bit. It's rendering speed is extremely fast, it can apply many many textures, and bump-mapping, and even FSAA quite fast.

So if you have a medium polygon count scene with a lot of texture detail the Kyro2 will be very fast.
But if you have a high polygon coutn scene with lower texture detail the Kyro2 will not be so fast.

I'm afraid I don't know much about the GF3...I plan to skip it because it's to pricey for me (I prefer lower end like the GF2MX...when tehre is a "GF3MX" with programmable T&L that will be my next baby probably).
