3- I need a job and live where there are more people on assistance than out working. :( I am actually looking into getting a job 60-80 miles away and drive everyday. Plus I don't really feel like I have enough experience or am able to sell myself enough to get a real decent job. I have 106 credits towards my B.S.. What will that really get me in real life at the moment? Not much. :(

I'm 19, junior in college. Gonna have to say I'm a 1.5. I got a lot of goals and plans for my life, and I'm no where near doing what I aspire to do.

you're prolly looking at life the wrong way. That B.S. may be reason to keep you on the right track. There's no short cut in having a good life. to some employers, experience is not the most important factor(i can attest to that). Maybe if you show willingness to learn, emphasize how hard working you are, you'll prolly get the job you want, so try there's no harm in trying. Besides, people find the job they love because they search, they don't wait.

One more thing, BELIEVE IN YOUR SELF! Good Luck!

I think I'm at about a 4. I'm a 2nd year law student. My goal is to make partner in a firm some day (not just income partner either).

Yeah, but I got so many big goals in mind that it kinda crunches the whole college thing.

I voted 3. I'm a high school dropout, don't have and don't know when I'll be able to get a job, and significantly overweight to top it all off. But at least I know what I want to do with my life. :)

I would think 7...

Graduated college 3 years ago...

- career is going well, working from home in my PJs... just need to get some more desirable skills under my belt

- living is ok... house purchased, wedding to come within a year, kids within 2-3.

- money is livable - but not yet enough to afford a new car on top of it all.

- physically trying to attain a better muscular physique, maybe within 3-5 years.

- leisure activities - hockey season is starting at the local league soon... nuff said

- education - I'm stopping at a B.A... I think that's great news for my lazy ways! :)

Turning 20 soon, running a company, clear goals, clear paths. The only thing that lies between where i am and where i want to be is time ;)

-1 or a 0.

Man, if its a -1 or 0 then you're ready to commit suicide.
From reading various posts from you have a decent job and such.....can't be that bad.

Look at me, I work at McDonalds. I know for a fact that there is no way I'll still be here in the long run but I wouldn't give myself a 0.

POSITIVE:
The job pays pretty well to where I can save 500-1000 a month.
I have 0 debt and the car is paid for.
I work with people that I've known all my life.

NEGATIVE:
The stress level is high.
Can't take more than 1 week off at a time.

I'd give myself a 6 and my reasoning is that I know at least 60% of the people would rather to be in my situation.

Money doesn't buy any self-worth or goals. I can't achieve what I want yet and until I do I can't give myself a higher rating. To get to a 5 or 6 I have to get my degree and find a job with a good police department. Right now I am only working towards that and have not achieved it. Plus, I have been so sick lately that life has been a drag. Last night was a drag so right now I am not feeling all that spectacular about myself. I mean yes I am a pretty fortunate person, but it hasn't been because of my work ethic and a sense of pushing myself. I have to work harder and achieve things on my own and right now I am lacking that because I am so fatigued all the time. Maybe when I get that behind me I can go back to how it was 3-4 years ago when I busted my ass in school and was working full time. We will see.

I put myself at a 4, but as I get older and my eyes open more I can imagine that changing. I just like to think that I have a good grip on my life and where I want to go, but I can't help but thinking that I haven't scratched the surface of the things that I will have to go through in life.

Thanks for the question. That kinda made me feel good about myself :)

Lemme guess, you are a teenager?

No offense, but your explanation of the scale is terrible... 6-7 is a college student? Errr.... being in college is the just the beginning on your adult life. You seem to think going from 1yo to 18yo constitues over 50% of your life's aspirations.

Here is what I'd say is my life goals:

10 - You can die knowing you had a good life and you don't regret a thing.
9 - You are enjoying your retirement and enjoying your grandchildren.
8 - You are retiring to relax....
7 - You are in a senior position in your job. You are doing what you like and loving it.
6 - You are working the job you like and earning a good wage. You are feeling like your life is pretty stable...
5 - You are married (if that is your intention or hope) and are starting out on a new journey in your life with your wife/husband. Your job is getting more fullfilling...
4 - You've graduated college and have a job that allows you to support yourself. You can now support yourself fully and understand what your responsibilities are in life.
3 - You are starting college, but still haven't taken any steps to getting to where you want to be other than school. You are also learning the responsiblities of life.
2 - You've finally graduated from high school and have a vague idea of what you want from your life.
1 - You are still in the early stages of your life and am wondering who you are and what you are going to do...

I'm currently on step 6, but unfortunately I have skipped steps 4 & 5. I especially regret that I haven't found someone to whom I want to spend the rest of my life with.... but that will come when it's time. I've already got the a job I love and I'm set financially for the rest of my life if all things continue down the road I'm currently on.

I would say in the 2-4 range for myself..

I have goals and I am comfortable with my life, but my girlfriend and I really need to start making hard plans and getting some work done.

bump for the morning crowd.

i wanted to leave the scale up for interpretation. i was hoping people would choose a number and also explain a little why they are at that level. in doing so, i thought we could get a more defined scale. *shrug*

btw, i'm not a teenager. :beer::D
