POLL: for those that watched both, what was scarier? the exorcist or the ring?

I think I had The Ring a bit too hyped for me to find it too scary, but it was genuinly creepy. Ringu was supposed to be far creepier. And The Exorcist was just kinda funny. I cracked up during it.

Laughed at the exorcist ... funny movie. The Ring, on the other hand, was one of the very few movies I've seen that genuinely scared me 😛

Both were funny 🙂

I haven't seen The Exorcist since I was a kid so I voted "onlyseen one". But I remember The Exorcist being funny....
I had a dream about the girl from The Ring a couple nights ago. I'm sleeping with a light on now because otherwise the images come back and really creep me out. 🙁

I had no nightmares right after I saw the movie.. only a year later.

anyone have an awesome wallpaper of the scary lady from the ring? or a freaky picture of the victims (from the american movie)?

When the Exorcist was first released I thought it was very scary, I hadn't seen a movie like it before.
Recently me and my older children watched the ring in the dark and we all thought it was a great scary movie. I think that for me the Exorcist was scarier in its time. When I was young(about 1970 or so) they would have horror movies on Saturday night and the movies were introduced by this guy called Sammy Terry(not sure of spelling). This guy was all dressed up as a vampire and he would come out of a coffin and he had pet spiders and such. The movies were those old great black and white horror movies and they would scare me half to death. It was the greatest thing to get to stay up late and watch those old movies.

I guess you're talking about the old Exorcist since I don't know if there has been a remake. If so, I saw it when it first came out and thought is was very scary (sp?). Then rented the video so my grand daughter could see it (she is into very creepy movies) and was about bored to death by it, and she lost interest in it. The shock effect was far below today's standards. That said, I just caught the last 2/3 or so of Ring the other night and was disappointed since so many people said they had nightmares, etc. My grand daughter saw it and would not sleep in her room or with the lights off for days. Did I miss the part that made it so scary? The only death scene I saw was at the end. Thanks

It's kinda hard to compare movies from 2 eras. Back in the early 70's The Exorsist was a really scary movie, at least i thought so, but if i watch it now it'd be pretty tame though still a good movie.
When you watch older movies you need to try to put yourself in the time the movie was made.

Haven't seen The Ring yet but i'd like to, sounds good.
And wasn't The Exorstst inspired by a true story or was that just a rumor? I thought i saw a documentary on that once.

Amen to that. A reporter running a round a little island talking about some damn horses is not scary. Hell, I didn't even think it was interesting.

I suppose you didn't get The Ring. It's all about the disturbing imagery, not a guy with a chainsaw hacking you up (which isn't scary).

Exorcist.

I just watched the Ring and I think it's a very good movie, but not a horror flick. Very suspenseful and the plot twist at the end surprised me, but I'll have to watch it again as I didn't hear all the dialogue at the end, so I'm not sure what's going on.
