EDIT:
i'm out of shape so I want to get back on the right by jogging.
now i know everyone is different, but....
regular joggers, do you follow the 3 times a week 30 mins each time rule?
does anyone jog daily?

since i'm new, i guess i'll have to ease myself slowly into a routine.

PREVIOUSLY:
if you jog before breakfast, you won't have much energy.
if you job after breakfast, you'll get stomach cramps/discomfort.

i usually jog in the afternoon because of those reasons.

btw, i think a "i don't jog at all" option is necessary 🙂

if you jog before breakfast, you won't have much energy

Um, not like your body would convert that food to energy right away anyways. You want your body to deplete the 'fuel' in your blood first, then it will start converting the fat from your body to energy. That's why it's always best to workout on an empty stomach.

I would run in the mornings but that means running at about 4:30 when it is dark and Skoorbie is too lazy to come with me which means I cannot go because it is DARK and we are in the boonies. 😛

Therefore, I usually run on my off days mid afternoon!

whenever i run early in the morning on an empty stomach, i get real queasy. 😕

should i drink more water before i run? a little snack?

Before breakfast, after rehydrating with a tall glass of water then checking E-mail to let it get out of my stomach before I run.

Most of your digestive system shuts down while you are sleeping. Thus when you first wake up you finish digesting last nights late meals/snacks - giving you plenty of energy in the morning. Food you eat for breakfast won't be digested until hours later - so how can that give you energy for the morning jog?

I always jogged first, then showered, then ate breakfast.

I run on an empty stomach at 4:30AM every day and I never feel tired or queasy. After I run a drink a bottle of water, take a shower and then have a small breakfast and I'm good to go.

I usually eat something like a toaster scramble or two or maybe a bowl of cereal. Then, about 30 min. later I go for my job. Then, after I cool down and do more stretches, I fix a couple of eggs and maybe some bacon.

I found 40 minutes, 4 days a week to be the best, BUT, I kept increasing my speed and distance. The problem is, your body adapts, and you have to keep pushing yourself harder and farther to make any gains in both endurance AND fat loss. If your body can easily do 30 minutes, you need to bump it up to 40 minutes, and/or bump up the tempo and distance.

i jog to my first period class : P, before breakfast (i don't eat breakfast) i eat breakfast/lunch.

but i never wake up in time for my 9:30 so i have to book it 😀

Every Friday for cross country we run about 4 miles at 6:00AM. ALWAYS before breakfast. If you have to eat something make it a banana and water or some other kind of fruit. I don't experience any energy problems if I don't eat a breakfast.

Of course you are talking about a jog, not a run, so your morning strategy might be a little less extreme to any extent.
