OK there's a background story to this question. I was talking to an AT'er today who is engaged but when I ask him when he proposed to his g/f, he says he cannot remember for the life of him, to which I was very shocked. I proceeded to ask him how much the ring cost him and he couldn't remember that either, despite the fact that he got it from Tiffany's for chrissake!! Then he tells me that he wouldn't expect most guys to remember stuff like that, to which I dared him that I would post a poll on ATOT asking all married/engaged guys that question.:p

So what do you think? IMO it's one of the most important questions/decisions of your life, so how could you not remember it?

Another thing, he looked for and found the Tiffany's packing slip from where he got the ring and it was dated 12/30/02, which wasn't even that long ago. I could understand if it was years and years ago, but 7 months?! He couldn't even remember how much the ring cost him. WTH???

BTW I got Ciber's permission before posting all this stuff about him.

I don't remember anything. I just woke up one morning and had this rig on my finger, and a ball and chain attached to my ankle!!! :Q

Just kidding. :) Yes, I remember quite clearly. It's only been two years since I popped the question, so I don't know if I will still remember/care in 28+ years.

wow congrats!

i remember asking my wife and i remember the wedding. one of the big things was on the wedding day the tuxes for us came in via fed ex. The place we rented from was sopposed to get them to us 2 weeks before the date but they messed up.

but then i have only been married 5 years. so its still kinda fresh.

I proposed to my current fiancee on May 22, 2002 in the front of the Grand Princess cruise ship at dusk. I don't think it's possible to forget unless you're pushing 60.

We're still not yet married since we wanted a house together first... and that was accomplished 8 months ago already... we must get our asses in gear with the wedding plans.

I've been married for 30 years and have never been able to remember when my wife's birthday is. I know it's in June and every year I have to ask my kids what the date is. Also, I know our anniversary is in September, but I couldn't tell you the date. This isn't due to old age, Alzheimers or dementia, I've NEVER been able to remember dates.

I can't even remember my wedding anniversary and you expect me to remember the date of my proposal? Get real.

Edit: This year both my wife and I forgot about our anniversary. She was talking to her mother a few days later and her mom wanted to know if we did anything. If it wasn't for her mom, weeks would likely have gone by before we realized it had passed. And we've only been married 8 years.

LOL, yeah every year my wife has to remind me. Of course she has to remind me of birthdays, including my own, and whatever other events happen during the year. I'd probably forget about Christmas if it weren't for the tree in the living room. :D

After chatting with Ciber some more, I can understand why he doesn't remember since it was very spur of the moment. He had the ring sitting around for a bit at his place. Then one day he just decided to grab it and propose, without looking at a clock or checking the date and he definitely did not go check afterwards since... you can guess.:D

I know her birthday and our anniversary, but not when I proposed (or even the year). And she didn't get a ring, we used the money for a house down payment so we didn't have to live in an apartment for another year. She liked that a lot more than a ring.

i never "proposed" to my wife.

i still don't get this "proposal" thing. IF there is ANY chance she is going to say NO why are you asking? IF there is NO chance she is going to say NO why are you asking??

We started dating with the intention of getting married. once we got to a certain comfort level we both just KNEW that we were going to get married. there was never a question about that.

we just started planning our wedding and the "proposal" issue just never came up.

I remember when and the details of the proposal. I roughly remember the price of the ring.

Yes I remember. I also remember our anniversary date and my wives and kid's birthdays. You'll be surprised how far remembering those dates will take you, it's not that hard.

BTW, I still buy flowers for my wife every week.
