I am so sick of the endless threads about abortion, God, etc., that goes to hundreds of posts a thread which include nothing but people repeating the exact same ideas and when they run out of ideas they reside to 8-year-old type insults.

It appears that some people are just looking for flames and to stir up lots of controversy..

I think that there are too many of the same threads about religion and such. And then if there happens to not be a thread about one of those then there ends up being like four all at once.

Flame wars aren't my favorite. I enjoy reading other's opinions and I think it adds a certain 'spice' to the forums. I have a seperate forum on my to flame. lol Though, there hasn't been much flaming. :p

They are better then some of the nef threads, at least some thinking goes on, even if only to come up with a better insult. ;)

Simple answer, if you don't want to read a thread, don't click on it.

its the emotions getting out of control, personal attacks are somewhat childish, but as the guy in Liar Liar says, "I love a good roasting":D

The trouble is when everybody agrees, there is nothing to talk about and the thread dies. A good contraversy makes for some fun discussions it seems that the religion Vs Science topic is a quarenteed argument, It is quraenteed to never end as it is an apples and oranges comparision. It is to bad that people resort to name calling so quickly.

I like good arguments. There are a couple of 'extreme' mambers that make the vast majority of the posts in these types of threads. This ruins the arguments. How can others make reasonable, and valuable contributions to these thread when a small minority take the point raised way out of context. I recently made a thread of a more serious nature and the first two posts had no relevance to the point I was trying to make. They just didn't even read my post and thought they'd be smart and crap away.

This is is very disappointing. The topic was 'flame wars' and all you did was complain about religious threads. I get sick of people who haven't got the reasoning powers to describe in their thread title what they want to discuss so those of us who aren't interested can stay away.

By the way, who cares whether you like or don't like religious threads. I don't like lima beans but I'm not absurd enough to go around announcing that fact to every Tom Dick and Mary. I don't fancy that I'm the center of the universe and everybody else cares about what I think.

Also, in every religious thread I've read, the fact that it was going to be a religious thread was patently evident from the title. That, of course, means that you have self inflicted the misery you protest of, which makes you not only a twit, but an idiot.

Let me add that I say all of this, not because I am emotionally envolved even in the slightest, but so that the next poor soul who clicks in here looking for a flame war will not be entirely disappointed.

PS Buddhist, do not read this post. It is full of the kind of condesension and sarcasm (arrows) you like to pull out of the air and redirect through your heart. Yea, I know, I put that warning at the end for that reason.
