*poll* fix/upgrade my PC, or deal with it.

I have about $290 saved up for upgrading my pc, and was planning on getting a mouse + vid card, and HL2 with it.


Unfortunately my motherboard decided to quit on me so I have these parts:


2100XP
Case+PS 350w ENermax
256MB Crucial PC2100
sound/lan card
2- 80GB HDD's
2- 40GB HDD's
48x CDRW
Barton HSF

If I get a motherboard "just to fix it" It will have to have RAID on it, or I will have to purchase a controller card.

I could also get a gaming console and a game or two, instead of upgrading the video card for the same price, but that isnt very like me

Your existing setup sounds like it is slightly better than my 2 year old box, and I'm pretty happy with mine. I'd say your decision should depend on how badly you want to be on the bleeding edge. If it were my machine and my call, I'd get a new MB and be done with it.

I was going to spend 300 or so dollars fixing up my desktop, but I got a laptop instead.

I say fix the comp so that it works again and spend the rest on a console.
