what is your favorite deftones album? I just picked up White Pony and Deftones and i have to say White POny ownz, the adreniline, then deftones, then around the fur.
 
I would have to say Adreniline, Around the Fur, White Pony and then Deftones. I saw them on summer sanitarium in Colombus Ohio and I have to say that they were horrible sounding. I saw them back in 98 and they were awesome I'm wondering if I caught them on a bad night or something because you couldn't make out what song they were playing until half way through it.

i am going to summer sanitarium today, i hope they will have a better show. I am looking foward to them and linkin park.
 
Ugh, Summer Sanitarium... major suckage.

I saw them play a guerrila show in Boston in May to promote their new album. Possibly the best show I've ever seen.

Uh no. White Pony and Around the Fur are tied for second, I don't even acknowledge "Deftones" their newest as a Deftones album. It's such an audio abortion that I can't really believe they actually made it.

so what about adrenaline makes it so great? because its the first and its cool to like a band's original stuff and not their new stuff?

No, because if you've ever seen a band take off from the beginning of their roots, see them play live a bunch of times, and see how well that album captures the raw energy of what the band really is, you would understand. Sorry I just can't vote White Pony as high since it's extremely produced and really cannot be replicated very well live. Adrenaline is raw unbridled Deftones, it's sound is completely unique, and it's their best album. It's unfortunate that Carptenter's fingers have become too fat to play anything but open and single finger bar chords these days, you really should have listened to them back in their prime.
 
ok, i'm not a huge concert goer so for me, their live performance isn't as important as the sound of the original production
 
i haven't heard the new one, but i'd rate them white pony, around the fur, adrenaline. the deftones are a decent studio band, but they suck live. i saw them on the white pony tour and i left half-way through, even though they were who i was there to see. it was just SO bad, i couldn't believe my eyes or ears. it was my first real exposure to incubus, and they kicked the crap out of the deftones in that show.
 
I love adrenaline, it's one of the best albums ever made in my opinion (others Metallica And justice for all, system of a down (well all of them =) ))
 
listening to adrenaline now, coincidently (note use of the word"coincidently", not "ironically"... pet peeve numero uno)

i've gotta agree that a) old deftones is better and b) deftones are awful live. i refused to check out their albums for a long while because i saw them a few years back and their performance was so awful i couldn't imagine any of their albums being respectable.
 
I voted for White pony, probably would vote for Adrenaline or Around the fur but it just depends on which album I've listened to most recently. I do like the new CD too though, it's soo rhythmic and layered....but I will say it's not as good as the others
