Poll: FAST WRITE DISABLE OR ENABLE

WFT, poeple are saying i should turn them on and off, so which, and with Counter strike i get clurry images but my fps is around the 70 mark, when i turned vsync on, it only goes to 30 fps or 60 fps, no betweens.

Do you mean AGP Fast Writes (which should really be ALWAYS enabled, unless you really want to have poor performance) or you want a recommendation between Vsync being on or off?.

You must have a bit of an odd system that is giving you grief with AGP fast writes ... shouldn't be causing problems at all ...

hmm, Fast Writes gives like a 1% increase in performance. It's true you should leave it on, but having it off won't kill your performance. It used to be unstable, but newer drivers seem to have solved the problem. (referring to nVidia)

Vsync is subjective. Some say image quality is better when it's on, but I honestly can't tell the difference so I leave it off. When it's on, your FPS will top out at what your monitor's refresh rate is set at. In your case that would be 60hz I guess, which is quite low. Do you use Win2K? There's a problem with win2K switching to 60Hz in games...

If your system is stable with it enabled go for it if not disable it!
However fastwrites and sisebanding do not increase performance very much!

I would hazard a guess that the fps counter in CS in not very reliable.
