Poll: Epox 8KTA3

About what? Is it good? Bad? Good deal? Gotta have some specifics about your poll.

Personally I think it's a good board, and will make a great contender to the Abit and MSI boards at a possibly lower price. I still wish they left out the onboard sound though . . .

I like onboard sound, I don't require much for audio on a PC. I'm running a Asus K7M with onboard audio, and it sounds fine to me.

But the majority of users hate onboard sound and go for something better. I think if they could come up with a way that the audio/joystick connectors could detach from the board, then that would be the best solution.

MGMOrden, some mobos are coming with 4.1 channel integrated sound. The Iwill KK266 for example. Only the most critical audiophile could bitch about this setup.

But most people are still going to get a seperate card regardless. People here are ditching Sound Blaster Live! 5.1's for Philips Accoustic Edges, Votex 2's for Live!'s, etc. Hardware enthusiasts like to tinker with hardware and switch things out. If they start building everything into the motherboard it takes the fun out of the hobby (after all, if we just wanted a working system not to complain about Dell and Gateway are available). I for one love the fact that the SB Live! has one of the lowest cpu usage ratings of any of the cards out (from my CPU I need all the speed I can get). Most of the onboard sound cards HEAVILY use the cpu when playing audio.
