Dinner theaters are places you go to like a restaurant except that there is a play/show and there is some "audience" participation, including some prodding by cast for guests to get engaged.

What's your opinion of these?

EDIT: If non-audience participation dinner theaters exist, forget them for this; I'm talking ONLY about those that have some audience participation.

Agatha's is a comedy murder mystery dinner theater with audience participation, maximum of 170 people. All shows are original comedy murder mystery plays that take place in the dining room between the courses of the meal. There is no stage, the actors move all around you so you can see and hear from all seats. Two professional actors carry the show and the rest is up to the audience. Participation is encouraged, but not required.

i need to see if there is one in Kansas City, my wife would like that, might get me by for V.Day

The only audience participation I'm doing consists of stabbing any idiot in the face that gets between me and my food.

Last time my wife and I went to a dinner theater was in 1993 with my parrents. We saw their rendition of "Singing in the Rain". The show was great but what was so sad is that most of the people in attendance were very old.

My parents are now gone and (probably) so are most of the people who attended that show ... but my wife and I will remember that show for the rest of our lives.

You don't know what you have until its gone ...

Anyway, I'd rather go hungry than go to one. I went to one once not knowing what it was and sat there in horror that some douche would interrupt my feeding (I am like a dog when I'm eating back the hell up or I lash out at you, it's instinctive).

You should have left a fork in his forehead, he'd either have left you alone or you might have convinced everyone else it was part of the show and got them to join in.

I've seen three types - the Movie variety where you sit at a table and order from a waitress,
and they bring you servings in Winter Park, FL (Orlando)

the Vaudeville Little-Theatre presentations like in Oceano, CA (Pismo Beach)

Movies are OK, but the live entertainment can be quite good.

The Fox Theatre in St. Louis has Balcony sections with dining and drinks,
saw Cat's

I've never been to one that asked for audience participation. If they asked me, I'd participate by kicking them in the nuts.
