The government provides earthquake/fire/flood/natural disaster coverage for anyone who doesn't already have it.

Earthquake insurance is too cost prohibitive to have it.

Even if you had, good luck on collecting it. With the Katrina Hurricanes, there was an ENORMOUS amount of lawsuits against insurance companies for skimping out on their duty to pay up.


BOTTOM LINE: Don't bother with it.

..the deductables and fine print hardly make it a sound investment. In 1906 the vast majority of damage was from fire. (SF).

I live near the New Madrid fault zone so, yeah, I have earthquake insurance. It's overdue for another big quake.

Very little chance of one in the part of Virginia I live in. The faults here are all very deep and have been inactive since the Mesozoic.
