I've used 'em all and like PowerDVD 3. Only the Cinemaster decoder like ATI brands will take advantage of the Rage inverse discreet cosine transfrom but WinDVD and PDVD should still use its motion compensation.
I'm using the 9x 7078 drivers on my LE (DX ddhelp error with 7089's) and AGP was disabled (usually required for DVD hardware assist). I was able to enable it in PowerStrip and confirm with WCPUID but dxdiag still shows the AGP test greyed out and PDVD does not recognize the MC.
I have read on rage3d that the 7089's enable the DX AGP test again so am curious which drivers you are using and if you get hardware assist with WinDVD. The latest NT drivers do allow the test but I have not checked on DVD hardware assist yet.
I use Creative DVD player, Power DVD with Win2K and an ATI Radeon. Works awesome. Way better than my Matrox G450. Sold my Jet-Airplane-Sounding Pioneer Slot 16X DVD for the Creative tray load. Super quiet.
