It's the new bling, an open-air concept if you will

Edit: Actually, funny story. Where I used to work, I was situated right next to a Home Depot. Leaving work one day I ended up at a stoplight behind a minivan with the back hatch open, and a baby seat with a kid in it latched onto one of the back seats. Isn't that a tad bit dangerous?! I didn't have my cell phone with me to be able to report them or anything.

were they hauling anything? if so it's not bad, but if they just didn't want to close it then they are stupid.

The way I have heard it, with the back door up the interior becomes a low pressure zone, which draws exhaust fumes in to the car. This is not a good situation. Should only be done for short drives at best.

I actually saw a guy doing something like that last spring. He was driving a blue Civic hatchback, with the hatch open. He was also wearing a full face shield motorcycle helmet and a single yellow driving glove . All of this on a 25 MPH street. I told a buddy of mine what I saw, and it turns out he saw the same guy doing it before, so it wasn't just a one-time thing.

how could you see the baby seat? Wouldn't the seat back block you from seeing wat is on the seat?

Now that you mention it, it does sound kind of weird...but both myself and the person I was with saw it. We were back far enough that there was a suitable viewing angle I guess. I still wonder if I should have taken down the licence number and called it in, but they were probably going to be home by then anyways.
