He got $17 million. Plus the $2 million signing bonus he got from them in 1998. I'd say that would get anyone's attention. In addition what else was he going to say?

"Uhh, I really like football better but since you are giving all this cash I think I'll hang out with you fellas for awhile".

Hey for me its great. I am a Yankee fan since the mid-1970's. Brosius is nearing the end of his productive years and the Yanks need a replacement. He is pretty cheap actually.

Yanks don't want him doing both and by giving up his senior season at Michigan his NFL career is likely never to happen. The Yanks had Deion Sanders but gave him up because of his 2-sport career.
