[POLL] - does your wife/gf get along with your mom ?

how many pretend to be nice to each other ? That's the staple of wife/MIL relationships.

they don't pretend. my mother calls my wife instead of me to talk about stuff and they go shopping together.

I had visions of this happening with them ... but alas... my dream didn't come true. Not only does that not happen... I'm forced to go shopping with her instead.

Same here. My wife even went on vacation with my parents once while I stayed home.

My mother doesn't get along with anyone, myself included, she's a true c**t. Thankfully she's ~1200 miles from me and staying there.

Just the sound of my MIL's voice makes my blood pressure rise. I won't live within 2 hours of her ever again.

I have to go to her 70th birthday party today. :|

I know the feeling thankfully I'm near the west coast and she's on the east....now just need to figure out how to avoid her when I got home for xmas to see my dad

I'm not married, but I have yet to meet a girl that can get along with my mother. She's very tempramental, so the ability to get along isn't a qualification for me. My father, on the other hand, can get along fine with about anyone 🙂

My Mom is a conservative Catholic school teacher. My gf is a liberal, "atheist," sexy little vixen. Yeah, everything's just grrreeeaaaattttt........

Well, my MIL is a Bible toting, Prophetess of God who is so righteous and Godly that she gets 'Words" from God that tell her what God wants her family members to do. And that is usually to accomodate her wishes and needs, however they might manifest.

Once I pointed out to my husband that he was being totally screwed, she started losing her Grip on him. His mom said that he was tainted by an antichrist spirit and his little brother was promised to her by God. My husband was treated like a second class citizen (he was, after all, conceived in sin before his parents married!) and I came along and showed him that he deserved far better than that.

I love my husband very much so I am cordial and pleasant in his family's company. His mom and the rest of the family are cordial to me in person, but everyone knows that I have taken him off the path of Christian righteousness and into the dark world of multiculturalism.

We are going to spend a couple of days with them this coming week... it will be like being in the movie "Saved!". Ever since I learned to laugh about it, it has been much easier to tolerate.

Christ and I thought working Thanksgiving day was bad :Q

My future MIL is religious but fortunately she doesn't bible thump and she's actually a very nice person who's more like a mother to me than my own mom.
