if you dont have an IP on your nic it would do that.

Set your nic with the IP: "192.168.x.y where x = 1 -> 255 and y is also 1 -> 255

and reboot. It should fix it.

It should in 9x, i'm not sure in Win2k cause any machine IMHO boots the same time. Just put in a IP for it and should boot up a bit faster.

It is always slower is you have your NIC needs a dynamic IP. A good chunk of the time is spend looking for a server and leasing a IP. The static IP solution the_good_guy suggested does help. You are SOL in Win9x you you have to have a dynamic IP though.
