I've heard people say "The card needs washing". But never "the car need washed". Are you sure they aren't just mumblind the "ing" and you misinterpret it as "ed"?

Well, I don't mean specifically talking about washing a car... but a lot of people seem to leave out the "to be" ... if you do that, then you have to say, "the car needs washing."

HOW DO I WASHED CAR?

It's like saying, "My dog needs fed."

Who the hell says that? Even my mom with her bad English doesn't say that.

I'm from Michigan and I hear people here say it... I've heard people say it in Pennsylvania... and in Florida

Honestly - who actually thinks it sounds RIGHT to say, "My car needs washed?" Combining past tense and present tense is a no no.

I think you're hearing voices in your head. I've never heard someone use grammar like that, unless they were deliberately trying to.

My ex's parents use to do that all the time... neither of them graduated high school.

Does that matter?!?! Basic sentences structure and grammar are taught in pre and grade school.

Assuming you come from a school that teaches basic sentence structure and correct grammar. They're both from poor farming backgrounds... "hicks" or "hillybilly's" I guess you could say.
