POLL: Does shopping at a dollar store make you feel like a millionaire?

I never shop at a dollar store. I prefer to pay for quality and convenience. However, I was in need of some wash cloths this weekend and my mother reccomeded the dollar store. They had a deal - eight for $5.00 vs. $3.00 or $24.00 total at Kohls.

I only wanted a couple, and would have bought from Kohls (my first stop), but the only ones they had were too thick and I hate thick wash cloths. The soap stays in them and they hold grime in deeper IMO...eeewww. 😉

ANYWAYZ...so I go to Dollar Tree then Dollar General. Bargains galore. Im thinking, "Damn, $500 and I could buy the whole damn store!"

I buy some candy, wheat thins, bannana chips (boiled in coconut oil), dried pineapple, gum, soda and some washcloths! I just grabbed and bought. The prices were marvelous. I think Im going to buy stock in dollar stores. 😉

Have you ever been to a dollar store?

No, it doesn't make me feel like a millionaire, but you can find some really nifty things in dollar stores.

So obviously yes, I have been to a dollar store.

LOL Alaska doesn't have those... but we have 1.49 stores! Or at least we used to. I guess the cost of living here wasn't friendly for those types of stores.

I don't feel rich shopping at those types of stores... but I do feel rich when I spend more than I should on something of exceptional quality or rarity. It seems backwards... you'd think it'd make one feel poor but... whatever.

Makes me feel like a scum-bag, like most of the patrons.

Knowing the true value of times and refusing to pay more when it is unecessary makes you a scum-bag? 😕

Fixed.

Anyways, I assume DBZ was being facetious. Dollars stores are great!

Being poor makes you a scum-bag? 😕

Some people are idiots. Sorry if I am scum because I buy stuff at the dollar store sometimes.

Walmart usuly has better prices than the dollar store...you gotta watch that.

I read that many middle and upper-middle class families shop at Dollar Stores in the Wall Street Journal. So I broke down and went into one, I couldn't find a single thing to buy. Is the stuff really any cheaper than Walmart and Targets of the world?

So now the shop is full of idiots and scum. Must be fun.

I don't know of any dollar stores around here. My parents have one by them, the only thing I buy there is disposable aluminum pans for brownies and whatnot.

you'd be sick to your stomach if you knew how much inventory gets written down from food going bad.

Are you suggesting I find a new place to buy all my seafood and shellfish?

lolz. don't worry, their "bad food" is the old shvt that sits in their warehouse.

I haven't gone in one in a long time. I tried one once, and that was enough. Most of the stuff was crap not even worth 1 penny, let alone $1. The stuff that was worth buying was costlier there than at other stores. Sure, you can buy a bar of cheap soap for $1, but you can get 3 for $2 at a grocery store.

Maybe they've changed since I was last in one.

I would never buy food from there. I got cheap rip-off potato chips and some spearamint gum one time from a dollar tree and both were so stale I had to throw them away. I mean, you get what you pay for I guess.

Dollar Stores are great. And although it doesn't make me feel like a millionaire, they DO make me feel like I'm better than the people shopping at the 99-cent stores... 😉 😀

Dollar stores OWN FACE.

They're *THE* place to go for A/V cables. Sure, you won't get component cables, but you can get wadges of stereo audio cables and just relabel them, and they'll work just the same way.

Dollar stores can be good but a lot of the time the things there are there for a reason.

For example, I've had cups where the handles have just broken off. Not very good quality 😉.

Least u didnt go to the Penny store. When u hold the cup itself, its handle falls off.
