I think for some it does, but for a few, it doesn't

It also depends where you're at before dating, if you're not trying before dating and/or just getting F's, you can't get any worse :p

As long as you keep getting A's, keep telling yourself that to justify your sad love life. ;)

My friend defies the assumption. 3.95 GPA and married, her husband is 4.0. Both in my major.... GTFO?

Yes. A friend of mine was a sophomore at Texas A&M when he acquired a girlfriend who was a young teacher at my high school at the time. She was his first girlfriend of his college years. His sophomore year was his last at TAMU -- he failed most of his courses and was kicked out of school. After that, his girlfriend and he had a long-time-coming fight which was fatal to their relationship.

His parents won't pay for him to go back, and n ow he sits at home, alone, and looks for work, with vague plans to go back to school someday.

mose direct co-relation i think.

Women ruin you. It's true after school too. Andre Agassi: his ranking dropped while married to Brooke Shields. He gets divorced, and wins Wimbeldon. Mike Tyson was undefeated until he married Robin Givens. Men are weak. We need women, but it comes at a great cost.

This also got me thinking - what about the saying "Behind every successful man is a woman?"

Do you guys (dis)agree?

I think it kind of depends on the girl too. If the girl is a very serious studious type she will put off spending time with you to study or work. This kind of motivates you to work harder too (at least it did for me. I kind of felt like a bum when I slacked and the girl was busting her ass)
When the girl is more laid back and wants to be with you all the time it can definitely hurt your grades.

Then there's the Yoko Ono (spelling?) complex. The man (a great athlete, musician......etc) falls for a woman and loses himself and his greatness.
