What a surprising number of people not getting the simple topic of this thread.

Perhaps it helps illustrate the confusion of many on the choices we face in policy.

'Why not vote to get rid of our paying any taxes? Why, that's good for us AND for the nation!'

I guess when this question is asked of the citizens of the same nation that sees people practicing irresponsible borrowing personally and politically, maybe it's to be expected.

While I posted my own concerns with the thread topic, the responses are way off in ways unrelated to its flaws.

What a pompous post Craig. It appears you are attempting to moderate a thread you didnt even create...the topic IS simple, and the responses are dead on. Its an opinion poll.

And your comment about taxes....I dont think anyone here thinks we dont need taxes. Way to blow things out of proportion though. I know thats what you meant.

I want my taxes raised. Up front that is something for the good of the country, but in part that's because i would like to see UHC, better college funding, etc, which amoung other things is for the good of myself and my peers. In turn i feel that that is in the best interests of the country.

Missing as a response is 'what's best for the human race, even if there's a price for you personally and/or your nation'. I guess it says something that doesn't even occur to post.
Don't over think this. I'm just encompassing that in the nation. It's to simply view the individual vs collective.

nation vs world is a distinctly different world view. 'me' vs 'us' vs 'them'
