Yes, so it doesn't roll away. :D I don't leave the car in gear though, most people do that. It bugs the hell out of me when people do it to my car because I'm not used to it, and I'll let out the clutch and the car will start to lunge.

Manual and I don't use it unless I'm on a hill and never in the winter time.

completely a habit. and a good one at that.

although I do remember forgetting the brake and finding my car not where I parked it. rolled down a very small incline and "parked" itself about 100 feet away...right against another car.

auto: depends on the incline

I always use the e-brake on inclines/declines. When you put the car in park and it rolls a few inches backward/forward you know you should use the e-brake.

Right, put the brake on after the whole weight of your car is resting on your transmission. Brilliant.

I don't. For the people that don't use their e-brake that should be a little "warning" to them to use it.

Chronologically:

You stop with brakes.
Shift into Park.
Release brake.
Car rolls forward/backwards.
~2200+ lbs of weight is now resting cheerfully on your transmission.
Engage parking brake.

Clearer this time? :p

Cliff's Notes
The parking brake was designed and put there for a reason. To save your transmission and keep your car in one place. Use it.
